Visitor

A visitor visa is a nonimmigrant visa for individuals desiring to enter the U.S. temporarily for business (B-1) or temporarily for pleasure (B-2). Visitors must demonstrate that the purpose of the trip is business or pleasure, that they plan to remain for a specific, limited period, and that they have a residence outside of the U.S. as well as other obligations which insure that the visitor will return abroad upon finishing their visit.

Student

There are two student visa categories for persons wishing to study in the United States. The F visa is for academic studies, and the M visa is for nonacademic or vocational studies. Students must be accepted for the purpose of pursuing a full course of study in an academic or nonacademic institution approved by the U.S. Attorney General. The F student must present evidence that sufficient funds are or will be available for the cost to cover expenses during the entire period of study in the U.S. The M student must present evidence that sufficient funds are available immediately to cover all of the expenses for the entire period of study in the U.S.
