Visitor/Student Visas

Visitor

  • A visitor visa is a nonimmigrant visa for individuals desiring to enter the U.S. temporarily for business (B-1) or temporarily for pleasure (B-2). Visitors must demonstrate that the purpose of the trip is business or pleasure, that they plan to remain for a specific, limited period, and that they have a residence outside of the U.S. as well as other obligations which insure that the visitor will return abroad upon finishing their visit.

Student

  • There are two student visa categories for persons wishing to study in the United States. The F visa is for academic studies, and the M visa is for nonacademic or vocational studies. Students must be accepted for the purpose of pursuing a full course of study in an academic or nonacademic institution approved by the U.S. Attorney General. The F student must present evidence that sufficient funds are or will be available for the cost to cover expenses during the entire period of study in the U.S. The M student must present evidence that sufficient funds are available immediately to cover all of the expenses for the entire period of study in the U.S.
